Gyp-Tek, a division of Durango Plastering & Drywall, Inc. (DPDI), is a licensed applicator specializing in the installation of Hacker Industries gypsum concrete flooring underlayments used for sound control, fire rated systems, and radiant heated floors. Hacker Industries is a national company and has a complete product line of underlayments and coatings, each designed for specific applications ranging from gypsum concrete for radiant heated floors, to self-leveling concrete coatings used for resurfacing of cracked or uneven concrete floors. Gypsum concrete is crack resistant and can be used in conjunction with “Hacker Sound Mats” to provide sound isolation between floors, as well as thermal mass for radiant heated floor systems.

Gyp-Tek’s benefit to our local builders is that our staff and crews are trained specialists who can provide consulting in the latest trends in sound isolation and fire control in multi-family, commercial and residential projects. Gyp-Tek serves the entire Southwest and shares facilities with DPDI in both the Durango and Telluride office locations.

David Whatcott and Michael Jones of DPDI have been members of the HBASC since 2001 and are proud to include Gyp-Tek as a new member. DPDI has been a sponsor of many of the HBASC events, including as a supporter of the Parade of Homes with Stephanie Whatcott on the Parade of Homes Committee.

It is their belief that involvement and support with the HBASC provides strength in numbers to be heard in the legislature and to have a say in the complex issues that home builders, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers face every day.
